Best Hackintosh Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Cards in 2026 (Sequoia and Tahoe)

Best Hackintosh Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Cards in 2026 (Sequoia and Tahoe)

Wi-Fi used to be easy on a Hackintosh: buy a Broadcom card, plug it in, done. Then macOS Sonoma removed the drivers for those Broadcom cards, and Tahoe kept it that way. Today, choosing a Hackintosh Wi-Fi card means deciding between the Broadcom route, which needs patches, and the Intel route, which uses community drivers.

This guide explains both options, which cards to buy for desktops and laptops, and what to do if your Hackintosh Wi-Fi is not working on Tahoe.

Quick answer: For Continuity features like AirDrop and Handoff, a Broadcom BCM94360-based card such as the Fenvi T919 is still the best choice, but on Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe it needs root patches to work. For the simplest setup, an Intel Wi-Fi 6 or 6E card (AX200, AX210) with the OpenIntelWireless drivers works well. Realtek, MediaTek and Qualcomm Wi-Fi cards do not work.

What changed in Sonoma and Tahoe

Apple’s newer Intel Macs use Broadcom chips that aren’t sold as PC cards. When macOS Sonoma dropped support for older Macs, Apple removed the drivers for the older Broadcom chips too, including the BCM4360 family that Hackintosh users loved.

Those cards still work with root patches, the same approach OpenCore Legacy Patcher uses on older real Macs. The catch: root patches require relaxing System Integrity Protection and Apple Mobile File Integrity, and they usually need to be re-applied after macOS updates. The Dortania Tahoe notes also mention a newer AppleBCMWLANCompanion kext, but describe it as not yet fully stable, requiring VT-d and not usable on AMD systems.

Best Wi-Fi cards for Hackintosh desktops

  1. Fenvi T919 (BCM94360CD, PCIe) – the classic Hackintosh card with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.0. Best Continuity support once patched.
  2. Intel AX210 on a PCIe adapter – Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5, simple setup with OpenIntelWireless drivers, no SIP changes needed.
  3. Intel AX200 on a PCIe adapter – a cheaper Wi-Fi 6 alternative with the same driver approach.

Remember that PCIe Wi-Fi cards usually need a USB header cable for Bluetooth, and that USB port must be included in your USB map.

Best Wi-Fi cards for Hackintosh laptops

  • Keep the Intel card that came with your laptop if it is an AX200, AX201, AX210, 9560 or similar. OpenIntelWireless supports most of them.
  • Swap to Broadcom (BCM94360NG, DW1560 or DW1830) only if your laptop has a standard M.2 E-key slot and no BIOS whitelist blocking new cards.
  • Check CNVi. Cards like the AX201 and AX211 use CNVi, which only works in CNVi slots; a Broadcom card may not fit those slots.

Laptop specifics are covered in our Hackintosh laptop guide.

Cards to avoid

  • Realtek Wi-Fi cards (common in budget laptops)
  • MediaTek and AMD RZ-series cards (RZ608, RZ616)
  • Qualcomm Atheros and Killer cards based on Qualcomm chips
  • Most USB Wi-Fi dongles, which lack drivers for modern macOS

Killer cards are confusing: some, like the Killer AX1650, are actually Intel chips and work with OpenIntelWireless. Check the chipset, not the brand name.

Hackintosh Wi-Fi not working on Tahoe? Try this

  1. Confirm the chipset in Windows Device Manager or on the card label.
  2. For Intel cards, make sure you’re using a build of itlwm or AirportItlwm made for your macOS version, and try the HeliPort app with itlwm.
  3. For Broadcom cards, re-apply root patches after every macOS update and check SIP and SecureBootModel settings.
  4. Check that VT-d and DisableIoMapper are set the way your Wi-Fi solution expects.
  5. Use Ethernet in the meantime. It’s always the most reliable connection on a Hackintosh.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Wi-Fi card for a Hackintosh in 2026?

The Fenvi T919 (BCM94360CD) for the best Continuity features with root patches, or an Intel AX210 for the simplest setup without SIP changes.

Does Broadcom Wi-Fi still work on macOS Tahoe?

Yes, but not natively. BCM94360-family cards need root patches on Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe, which require relaxed security settings.

Does AirDrop work on a Hackintosh?

It works best with a patched Broadcom card. With Intel cards, AirDrop support is limited, although community drivers are improving.

Why is my Hackintosh Wi-Fi not working?

Usually because the card is unsupported (Realtek, MediaTek, Qualcomm), the driver doesn’t match your macOS version, or Broadcom root patches were removed by an update.

Do USB Wi-Fi adapters work on a Hackintosh?

Rarely on modern macOS. A supported PCIe or M.2 card, or Ethernet, is far more reliable.
