Picking the right parts is 80% of a successful Hackintosh. Get the CPU, graphics card and Wi-Fi right, and macOS installs cleanly and stays stable. Get them wrong, and no amount of config tweaking will save you.
These are the three Hackintosh builds we recommend in 2026, all aimed at macOS Tahoe 26 and Sequoia 15. Because Tahoe is the last macOS for Intel hardware, every part is also chosen to stay useful under Windows or Linux later.
Quick answer: The easiest Hackintosh build in 2026 is an Intel 10th gen Core CPU on a Z490 or B460 board, an AMD Radeon RX 6600 or 6600 XT (or Intel UHD 630 on a budget) and a Broadcom BCM94360 Wi-Fi card such as the Fenvi T919. For maximum performance, a 12th to 14th gen Intel Core i9 with a Radeon RX 6800 XT or 6900 XT works well with some extra setup.
The golden rules of a 2026 Hackintosh build
- Graphics decides everything. Use Intel UHD 630 or an AMD Radeon RX 5000/6000, RX 580 or Vega card. Modern NVIDIA cards have no macOS drivers.
- Intel is still the easy path. 8th to 10th gen Core CPUs map closely to real Macs. Newer Intel and AMD Ryzen work too, with extra configuration.
- Plan your Wi-Fi. Broadcom cards give the most native experience but need patches since Sonoma. Intel cards work with OpenIntelWireless drivers.
- Buy for Tahoe, plan for Windows. Tahoe is the last Intel macOS, so choose parts you would also be happy with in Windows.
Build 1: Budget Hackintosh (used or mini PC)
Ideal for students, office work, web development and learning Xcode. It relies on Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics, so you don’t need a graphics card.
| Part | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i5-10400 or i5-10500 (or 8th/9th gen i5/i7 with UHD 630) | Native iGPU acceleration, excellent compatibility |
| Motherboard | B460 or H470 board from Gigabyte, ASUS, ASRock or MSI | Simple, well-documented platform with Intel Ethernet |
| Graphics | Intel UHD 630 (built in) | Hardware video decoding, no extra cost |
| RAM | 16 GB DDR4 (2 x 8 GB) | Comfortable for daily macOS use |
| Storage | 500 GB to 1 TB NVMe (WD SN770, Crucial P3 or similar) | Avoid Samsung PM981/PM991 OEM drives |
| Wi-Fi | Fenvi T919 (BCM94360CD) or Intel AX200 with OpenIntelWireless | Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in one card |
Even cheaper: used business mini PCs such as the Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro, HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Mini or Lenovo ThinkCentre M920q with 8th or 9th gen Intel CPUs make excellent small Hackintoshes. Swap the Wi-Fi card if needed.
Build 2: Creator Hackintosh (best value)
Our most recommended build for Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Lightroom and serious development work. The Radeon RX 6600 XT gives strong Metal performance and hardware video encoding.
| Part | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i7-10700K or i9-10900K | The last Intel generation that closely matches the iMac20,x |
| Motherboard | Z490 board, for example Gigabyte Z490 Vision D, ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E or MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk | Mature, widely tested platform |
| Graphics | AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (or RX 6600 / RX 6650 XT) | Excellent macOS support and efficiency |
| RAM | 32 GB DDR4 | Room for 4K timelines and large sample libraries |
| Storage | 1 to 2 TB NVMe (Samsung 970 EVO Plus, WD SN850X or similar) | Fast scratch disk for media |
| Wi-Fi | Fenvi T919 or an Intel AX210 | AirDrop and Continuity work best with Broadcom (with patches) |
RX 6000 cards are no longer in production, so look for remaining stock or a good used card. See our GPU compatibility list for alternatives.
Build 3: High-end Hackintosh workstation
For 4K and 6K video, heavy multitrack audio and big Xcode builds. Newer hybrid Intel CPUs need extra configuration, but they deliver a lot of performance for the money.
| Part | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i9-12900K, i9-13900K or i9-14900K | Many cores for rendering and compiling |
| Motherboard | Z690 or Z790 board with good BIOS options and supported Ethernet | Check the LAN chip before you buy |
| Graphics | AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, RX 6900 XT or RX 6950 XT | The fastest GPUs with native macOS drivers |
| RAM | 64 GB DDR4 or DDR5 | Headroom for pro workloads |
| Storage | 2 TB NVMe for macOS plus a separate drive for Windows | Clean dual boot |
| Wi-Fi | Fenvi T919 or Intel AX210 | Choose based on the features you need |
| PSU & cooling | 850 W quality PSU, strong air or AIO cooler | These CPUs and GPUs draw a lot of power |
Important: if you use a 13th or 14th gen Core CPU, update your BIOS to the latest version first. Intel released microcode updates to address instability on these processors.
Prefer AMD? A Ryzen 9 build works too, with a few limits. Read AMD Ryzen Hackintosh in 2026 before you decide.
Parts to avoid in 2026
- Any modern NVIDIA GeForce or RTX card as your only GPU
- AMD Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 series (no macOS drivers)
- Radeon RX 6500 XT, RX 6400 and RX 6700 / 6700 XT / 6750 XT (not natively supported)
- Intel Arc graphics and Intel Core Ultra (Arrow Lake) platforms
- Realtek, MediaTek or Qualcomm Wi-Fi cards
- Samsung PM981 and PM991 OEM NVMe drives

Frequently asked questions
What is the best CPU for a Hackintosh in 2026?
Intel 10th gen Core CPUs such as the i7-10700K and i9-10900K are the easiest. 12th to 14th gen Intel CPUs offer more performance with extra setup. See our CPU guide.
What is the best GPU for a Hackintosh?
The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is the best value, and the RX 6800 XT or 6900 XT are the fastest options with native macOS drivers.
Can I build a Hackintosh with an NVIDIA RTX card?
Only if you add a supported AMD GPU or use Intel integrated graphics for macOS. The RTX card will be disabled in macOS but can still be used in Windows.
Is it still worth building a Hackintosh in 2026?
It can be, especially if you want an upgradeable machine that dual boots Windows. Read Is a Hackintosh worth it? for an honest comparison with a Mac.
