Hackintosh FAQ

Straight answers about running macOS on a PC in 2026: compatibility, legality, the remote installation process, updates, pricing and support.

General

What is a Hackintosh?

A Hackintosh is a PC or laptop that runs Apple’s macOS. It uses a bootloader called OpenCore to make non-Apple hardware look enough like a Mac for macOS to install and run.

Is Hackintosh still possible in 2026?

Yes. macOS Tahoe 26 and Sequoia 15 both run on compatible Intel and AMD PCs. macOS 27 runs only on Apple silicon, so Tahoe is the final macOS a Hackintosh can run. Apple has said Intel Macs on Tahoe will get security updates for about three years.

Is a Hackintosh legal?

Apple’s license only allows macOS on Apple-branded hardware, so a Hackintosh breaks that agreement. For personal use this has historically been treated as a contract issue rather than a crime, but you should read our full explanation and decide for yourself.

Do I need a Mac to make a Hackintosh?

No. We create the macOS installer from Windows during the remote session.

Compatibility

How do I know if my PC is compatible?

Send us your specs through the free compatibility check. Graphics is usually the deciding factor: Intel UHD 630 and AMD Radeon RX 5000/6000 cards work well, while modern NVIDIA cards do not.

Can I use an NVIDIA graphics card?

No modern NVIDIA card has a macOS driver. You can use Intel integrated graphics or add a supported AMD Radeon card and keep the NVIDIA card for Windows.

Does AMD Ryzen work?

Yes, most Ryzen desktops work well with a supported Radeon GPU, with a few limits such as no virtualization inside macOS. See AMD Ryzen Hackintosh in 2026.

Can you hackintosh any laptop?

No. Intel 8th–10th gen laptops with UHD 620/630 graphics are good candidates. Laptops with Iris Xe, Intel Arc or AMD graphics generally are not.

Which Wi-Fi card is best?

Broadcom BCM94360-based cards give the most native experience, though they need patches from Sonoma onward. Many Intel cards work through OpenIntelWireless drivers. See our Wi-Fi guide.

The installation

How does remote installation work?

We connect with AnyDesk or TeamViewer, create the installer, guide you through BIOS settings and install macOS while you watch. See every step.

How long does it take?

Usually 2 to 4 hours for a desktop, longer for laptops.

Which macOS version should I choose?

Tahoe 26 if your hardware supports it well and you want the longest update window. Sequoia 15 if you depend on onboard audio or older Broadcom Wi-Fi. We recommend one for your machine.

Can I dual boot Windows?

Yes, on the same drive or separate drives. OpenCore shows both systems at startup.

After the install

Will iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud work?

Yes on properly configured systems. We generate a unique SMBIOS and set up your network the way Apple services expect.

Can I install macOS updates?

Minor updates are usually fine once OpenCore and kexts are current. Ask us before major updates, and always keep a backup.

Is a Hackintosh stable enough for work?

A well-built one is. Most instability comes from wrong hardware or a poor EFI, which is why we check compatibility and build every EFI individually.

Pricing & support

How much does a Hackintosh installation cost?

Every job is quoted individually after the free compatibility check, because the work depends on your hardware. You only pay once you accept the quote.

What support do I get afterwards?

Aftercare on WhatsApp from the person who built your EFI, including advice before macOS updates.

Which countries do you work in?

All of them. The service is fully remote and we schedule sessions around your time zone.

Still have a question?
