The graphics card is the single most important part of a Hackintosh. macOS only includes drivers for the GPUs Apple has shipped in its own Macs, so a card that is perfectly good for Windows gaming can be completely useless in macOS.
This Hackintosh GPU compatibility list for 2026 covers every major AMD, Intel and NVIDIA family on macOS Tahoe 26 and Sequoia 15, so you can check your card or choose the right one before you buy.
Quick answer: The best GPUs for a Hackintosh in 2026 are AMD Radeon RX 6600 and 6600 XT (best value) and RX 6800 XT, 6900 XT and 6950 XT (fastest). RX 5000 series, RX 580/570 and Vega 56/64 also work. Intel UHD 630 works for budget builds. Modern NVIDIA cards, Radeon RX 7000/9000, RX 6700 XT, RX 6500 XT and Intel Arc do not work.
AMD Radeon GPUs
AMD cards are the heart of every modern Hackintosh because Apple used AMD GPUs in Intel Macs right up to the end, including the Mac Pro (2019) and iMac (2020), both supported by Tahoe.
| GPU family | Examples | Tahoe / Sequoia | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| RDNA 2 (Navi 21) | RX 6800, 6800 XT, 6900 XT, 6950 XT | Supported | Fastest native option. Use MacPro7,1 SMBIOS or iMac20,x with an iGPU. |
| RDNA 2 (Navi 23) | RX 6600, 6600 XT, 6650 XT | Supported | Best value and efficiency. Our top pick for most builds. |
| RDNA 2 (Navi 22) | RX 6700, 6700 XT, 6750 XT | Not natively supported | Apple never shipped Navi 22. Avoid. |
| RDNA 2 (Navi 24) | RX 6500 XT, RX 6400 | Not supported | No macOS driver. Avoid. |
| RDNA 1 (Navi 10/14) | RX 5500 XT, 5600 XT, 5700, 5700 XT | Supported | Good used buys. Some cards need the agdpmod=pikera boot argument. |
| Vega | RX Vega 56, Vega 64, Radeon VII | Supported | Power hungry but capable. |
| Polaris | RX 470, 480, 570, 580, 590 | Supported | Budget option, still works on Tahoe. |
| RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 | RX 7600 to 7900 XTX, RX 9060/9070 series | Not supported | No macOS drivers, and there never will be. |
Tahoe note: the Dortania Tahoe notes report WhateverGreen connector-patching problems with some AMD cards. If you see kernel panics, the documented workaround is to remove WhateverGreen and apply the pikera patch manually.
Intel integrated graphics (iGPU)
| iGPU | Found in | Status |
|---|---|---|
| UHD 630 | 8th to 10th gen desktop Core CPUs | Supported. Excellent for budget builds and for hardware video encoding alongside an AMD card. |
| UHD 620 / UHD (Comet Lake U) | 8th to 10th gen laptops | Supported with framebuffer patches. |
| Iris Plus (Ice Lake) | 10th gen “G” laptops | Supported, needs more setup. |
| HD 530 / 630 (6th and 7th gen) | Skylake and Kaby Lake | Works on recent macOS only with device-id spoofing. Consider a dGPU. |
| UHD 750 / 770 | 11th to 14th gen desktop CPUs | Not supported. Use an AMD card. |
| Iris Xe | 11th gen and newer laptops | Not supported. No graphics acceleration. |
| Intel Arc (desktop and integrated) | Arc A-series, Core Ultra | Not supported. |
NVIDIA GPUs
NVIDIA is the most common source of Hackintosh disappointment. Apple stopped using NVIDIA GPUs years ago, and there are no drivers for any modern NVIDIA architecture.
| NVIDIA family | Examples | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Turing, Ampere, Ada, Blackwell | GTX 16 series, RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 series | Never supported |
| Pascal and Maxwell | GTX 10 series, GTX 900 series | Only with old web drivers up to macOS High Sierra |
| Kepler | GTX 600 and 700 series (some models) | Native only up to Big Sur; newer macOS needs root patches |
If you have an NVIDIA card, you can keep it for Windows and add a supported AMD card or use Intel integrated graphics for macOS. On laptops with NVIDIA Optimus, the NVIDIA GPU is simply disabled in macOS. More detail in our best Hackintosh build guide.
Which GPU should you buy in 2026?
| Budget | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest | Intel UHD 630 (no dGPU) or a used RX 580 | Enough for office work and light editing |
| Best value | Radeon RX 6600 or RX 6600 XT | Efficient, quiet, great Metal performance |
| High end | Radeon RX 6800 XT or RX 6900 XT | The fastest GPUs with native macOS drivers |
RX 6000 cards are out of production, so shop carefully on the used market and test the card before a big purchase. And since Tahoe is the final Intel macOS, a GPU that also performs well in Windows gives you the best long-term value.
How to check your GPU before installing
- On Windows, open Device Manager and expand Display adapters to see your GPU name.
- For AMD cards, check the exact model: an RX 6600 works but an RX 6700 XT does not.
- For laptops, check whether the display is wired to the Intel iGPU or the NVIDIA GPU.
- Send us the result for a free compatibility check if you’re unsure.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best GPU for a Hackintosh in 2026?
The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is the best value. The RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT are the fastest cards with native macOS support.
Does the RX 6700 XT work on a Hackintosh?
Not natively. Apple never shipped a Mac with the Navi 22 chip used in the RX 6700 series, so there is no official driver support.
Can I use an RTX 3060, 4070 or 5070 on a Hackintosh?
No. Modern NVIDIA GPUs have no macOS drivers. Use a supported AMD card or Intel integrated graphics for macOS.
Does the Radeon RX 7900 XTX work with macOS?
No. RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 cards are not supported by macOS, and with Tahoe being the final Intel release they will not be.
Is Intel UHD 630 enough for a Hackintosh?
For office work, coding and light photo editing, yes. For video editing or multiple 4K displays, add a Radeon RX 6600-class card.
