Honest expectations
What a Hackintosh laptop can and can’t do
A well-configured Hackintosh laptop can be a great macOS machine for work, study and development. It will rarely match a real MacBook on battery life, because macOS power management is tuned for Apple hardware. A dedicated NVIDIA GPU will be switched off, since macOS has no drivers for it, which often improves battery life.
Features that depend on Apple hardware, such as Touch ID, Sidecar on some models or AirDrop with non-Broadcom Wi-Fi, may not work. We list all of this in your compatibility check so there are no surprises.
Can you hackintosh any laptop?
No. Graphics support is the deciding factor. Intel UHD 620/630 and Iris Plus laptops are good candidates, while Iris Xe, Intel Arc and most AMD laptops are not.
Will the trackpad support gestures?
On most supported laptops, yes. I2C trackpads get multi-touch gestures through VoodooI2C, and many PS/2 trackpads work well with VoodooPS2.
Do I need to replace my Wi-Fi card?
Not always. Many Intel Wi-Fi cards work with OpenIntelWireless drivers. A Broadcom card gives the most native experience, but support changed in Sonoma and Tahoe, so we will advise you.
How long does a laptop install take?
Plan for 3 to 5 hours. Laptops need more post-install work than desktops.
